  • VOCABULARY TOOLS AND DICTIONARIES

    • DO NOT USE GOOGLE TRANSLATE! It does a terrible job. No, seriously, there are much better, more reliable options.

    • Latin is Simple: A free online dictionary I know most students prefer.

    • Whitaker's Words: My personal choice for grammar breakdowns with a downloadable program for PC and Mac.

    • SPQR: User-friendly Latin dictionary for smartphones and tablets. It's not free, but contains built-in games and resources to make it highly recommendable, especially for advanced students.

    • Orbilius Glossa: An advanced dictionary that offers detailed analysis and references. Requires nominative forms and first person present forms of Latin. No English entry.

    • The vocab tester in the digital textbook is excellent. That said, Quizlet has a large collection of Cambridge vocab lists already made by users.

    • MYTH

      • Theoi Project: A massive project using translations of original mythological stories serving as an encyclopedia of Greco-Roman myth. It's dense, but if you want to be a myth guru, this is the place.

      • Myths and Legends Podcast: A podcast covering a variety of mythological topics, including numerous episodes on the Greeks.

    • History

      • A Timeline of Rome: A solid, though certainly not complete, timeline of Roman history. It's detailed, but there is always more to explore when it's 1000 years of history!

      • The History of Rome Podcast: An award-winning history podcast covering the history of the Romans from 753 BCE to the 476 CE. It will definitely give you a solid background in much of Roman history.
